Creating lasting impact
We focus on providing the resources communities need to thrive, strengthening the shared spaces where everyday life and a brighter future take shape.
"We equip people with the tools they need to learn, because real opportunity starts with the chance to become who you're capable of being."
There is a difference between success and significance. One is measured in a lifetime. The other is measured in the lifetimes it changes.
“The M&K Foundation comes from that same idea — something we believed from the early days of West Ireland Investments: building value the right way means you owe something back too. Success can stay quiet, but it should not stay yours alone”
This is not a foundation of campaigns, appeals or donations. It is a foundation of decisions made carefully and consistently, and measured not by how they are announced but by how long they last.
Two disciplines, pursued with depth rather than breadth: first, education, where futures are shaped long before careers begin; and second, community development, which makes a difference to the quality of everyday life.
Steve and Lorna Mayne have built West Ireland Investments on the conviction that capital, properly managed, should outlive the people who first put it to work. The Foundation carries that same conviction moving forward. This is a family responsibility as much as a philanthropic one and a responsibility that all the Maynes share.
"We never set out to build a charity. We set out to make a difference and to build something worth handing down We were taught early that what we passed on should include a responsibility to others and not only an inheritance for ourselves."
— Steve & Lorna Mayne, Founders
